11:15 a.m. - General Session - **Design Thinking in K-12 Arena** Mary Cantwell, Tyler Thigpen, Adam Royalty, Stanford University d.School: Institute of Design (via Skype)
In the general session we will share how we have taken the design thinking model developed by Stanford University Institute of Design’s d.school and created our own D.E.E.P. Design Process. Mount Vernon students identify real world issues through creative solution seeking always keeping mindful of the user’s needs. In this process, emphasis is placed on empathy, imagination, and student centered outcomes. Our students will share their experiences going DEEP and examples of their design thinking challenges. Mount Vernon’s innovative program is the only one of its kind among Atlanta independent schools.

Session A - 1:1 Program Planning Continued: Faculty Development & Curriculum Integration
(Connie White, Carol Horner and others)
In this breakout we will discuss the specifics of how schools can successfully prepare their faculty and for the launch of a 1 to 1 program. We will also share technology integration
frameworks and models that we have used. Panel members will include several experienced tech leaders whose programs represent various platforms, devices and implementation
plans.

Session B - Setting up 21st Century Technology Tools (MVPS Director of Technology, Raj Jose)
Raj will lead a discussion about several initiatives and processes at MVPS including, App-V (Application Virtualization), RD Web Access (Remote Desktop Web Access), Windows Deployment Services and CMS (Content Management System).

Session C - Going Deep with Design Thinking
(The Mount Vernon Center for Design Thinking Coordinator, Mary Cantwell)
Utilizing the design process, participants will role play and experience a deeper exploration of D.E.E.P. (Discover, Empathize, Experiment, Produce).

Session D - Tech in the Classroom @ MVPS
Music & Technology (MVPS Music Tech & Drama Teacher, Chris Willoughby)
While focusing on the traditional parts of music curriculum, reading, appreciation, history, culture, Mr. Willoughby will demonstrate how he teaches these elements emphasizing technology integration (Midi, Garageband, recording, editing, composing).

Project Zero (Director of 21st Teaching & Learning, Nicole Martin; 2nd Grade Teacher, Melissa Rothbard)
Teachers from all over the world attend Harvard University during the summer called Project Zero.
Two MVPS teachers who were awarded fellowships attended last summer will share one of the most innovative practices they learned called Visible Thinking.

Web 2.0 in Class (MVPS 6th Grade Teacher, Ann Plumer, 1st Grade Teacher, Sherri Kirbo, Spanish Teacher, Angela Johnson, 7th Grade Teacher, Katie Jones)
Teachers will demonstrate creative and applicable uses of Storybird, Voki, Skype, goAnimate, Jing, wikis, blogs, and Twitter
